You will be entitled to: 4 weeks of leave:
- 2 weeks of pay at 100% of your average earnings
- An additional 2 weeks of pay at 100% of your basic
weekly earnings
The first 2 weeks must be taken within 56 days of the birth date/placement date and must be taken consecutively (or you can choose to take just 1 week). The additional 2 weeks* can be taken within the first year of birth / placement date in separate week blocks. If you have the required length of service for enhanced pay but do not qualify for statutory pay or enhanced pay, you are still able to take up to four weeks unpaid leave or use holiday up to four weeks for paternity leave reasons

If you take the enhanced payments you must agree to return to work after your leave for at least 12 weeks. If you decide not to come back to work, or don’t return for more than 12 weeks, or in the case of paternity leave, for each block of leave if not taken as a single block of leave, then you’ll need to repay the enhanced payments.

You can take up to 50 weeks of leave which you can share with your partner within 1 year of the baby’s birth or placement date.

You need to share the main responsibility for the care of the child with either: - Your husband, wife, civil partner or joint adopter - parent - your partner (if they live with you and the child) You need to Have 26 weeks continuous service 15 weeks before the baby is due or the date you are matched with a child/receive official notification (for overseas adoption). Earn the minimum for National Insurance contributions to receive shared parental pay Your partner must have: Worked on an employed or self-employed basis in 26 of the last 66 weeks earning at least £30 on average for 13 of those weeks. They don’t need to be continuous weeks
