Maternity Pay
As a Company benefit, and to award our team members for their continued service, the below Company
maternity pay entitlements will apply:
• Following 18 months continuous service at your qualifying week, you will be entitled to 14
weeks at 100% of your weekly earnings. For the following 25 weeks of your maternity, providing
you earn more than the lower earnings limit, you will receive the fixed rate Statutory Maternity pay.
The final 13 weeks of your Maternity Leave will be unpaid.
• Following 3 years continuous service at your qualifying week, you will be entitled to 16 weeks
at 100% of your weekly earnings. For the following 23 weeks of your maternity, providing you earn
more than the lower earnings limit, you will receive the fixed rate Statutory Maternity Pay. The final
13 weeks of your Maternity Leave will be unpaid.
• If you have less than 18 months continuous service at your qualifying week, you will be
entitled to claim either Statutory sick pay or a state Maternity Allowance from the Department of
Work and Pensions, subject to your length of service and earnings. Please contact your Social
Security Office or visit www.gov.uk/maternity-allowance for further information.
• The HR Department can provide the current rate of maternity allowance, which is a flat rate
reviewed annually by the government.
Your entitlement to Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is dependent on your length of service and your average
weekly earnings. This is calculated on your length of continuous service at the 15th week before the EWC
(i.e. 25th week of pregnancy). The average weekly earnings are calculated from all actual earnings over
the two months prior to the 25th week of pregnancy, including overtime payments. For further information,
please visit www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay.
Return to Work Bonus
Upon returning from maternity leave, you will be entitled to receive a discretionary Company bonus of
half a months’ salary, paid together with your salary in the month of return. The Company is within their
right to claim back this bonus should you resign from the Company within 6 months of returning from
maternity leave.
