Calculating adoption leave pay
The Company provides Company adoption pay (CAP) to eligible employees. This adoption pay is inclusive of any entitlement to statutory adoption pay (SAP), All payments are subject to tax and National Insurance deductions. Paper pay slips will be sent to an employee's home address by Payroll once adoption leave has commenced. Therefore, an employee must ensure that their address details are correct in My Info.
The total pay period is for up to 39 weeks
• weeks 1 to 20: up to 20 weeks of CAP, which is an employee's average weekly basic pay plus shift allowance but not including the salary sacrifice element; the amount is inclusive of SAP
- the basic pay and shift allowance during the 2 months prior to the match notification date as detailed on the employee's pay slips are used
if the employce's earnings vary in any way during the 2 months, such as for an unpaid leave, the employee's payment will be reduced accordingly but the employee will still receive SAP for the first 20 weeks
weeks 21 to 39: up to 19 weeks of SAP, which is a flat rate per week or 90% of the employee's average weekly earnings if the carnings are less than the flat rate
If the employee ends adoption leave prior to 39 weeks and returns to work, adoption pay ends upon the employee's return to work.

Pay terms
Employees will receive adoption pay, less tax and National Insurance contributions, at the same frequency as their regular salary. Adoption pay is payable only for complete weeks in a calendar month, so the amounts may vary depending on whether it is a 4- or S-week month. Adoption pay will commence the day after an employee's last working day and cannot continue to be paid after the employee returns to work.
Salary cannot be paid during the adoption pay period. The only exception is when an employee has agreed with the leader to work Keeping in Touch (KIT) days.
